It’s Saturday morning, about 0930, and it’s raining. The forecast suggests that it’ll keep raining until it starts sleeting and maybe snowing. The “Beast from the East Mk11” is on its way. (Actually people keep calling it “Mk11” but I suspect this has happened countless times before in the great meteorological scheme of things – it’s winter after all! The upside is that I can sit with a relatively clear conscience and watch Rugby all afternoon as the 6 Nations tournament gets under way.
In the garden I noticed this tiny splash of colour where a small drift of crocuses (croci?) is pushing its way through to freedom – a heartening hint if ever there was one. I just hope it’s not a week or so too soon and that it can survive the icy blast to come in the next few days.
