This was the latest visit, a little earlier in the month than might have been ideal, but there were pressing reasons for that. Horticulturally the place is beginning to hum! Things are growing, green is all around, colour is burgeoning and the sense of potential and possibility is close to intoxicating. The real surprise was a flowering Rhododendron tree; Harlow Carr has a great reputation for its display of these wonderful blooms, and this one seemed very early and nonetheless welcome.
