We had towards the end of February an unseasonably lovely, Spring-like sequence of weather and so taking advantage of such a meteorological bonus, we rolled up to Harlow Carr for a “late winter” look. 12 months ago it would have been freezing under snow, driven in by strong easterly winds, here it was bathed in sunshine and feeling very much like Spring. There’s still a great deal of blank, waiting, fertile looking earth as a backdrop, but there are also splashes of colour, new beginnings tentatively showing themselves. We may know in our minds that this could all be a natural con-trick, but hope is seductive and maybe, just maybe, we might slide quietly into real Spring …….
